Foggy glass between the panes

Most windows in Phoenix are double-pane: two pieces of glass sealed together with dry air or gas between them. When that seal fails, moist air gets in, and the window looks foggy, streaked or white from the inside. No cleaning will clear it, because the moisture is between the panes.

The fix is a new sealed glass unit made to fit the existing frame, not a whole new window. We measure it, order it, and install it when it arrives, usually within a couple of weeks. The frame, the screen and the trim stay.

Some glass has to be safety glass by code: glass in and next to doors, around tubs and showers, and large panes close to the floor. We order the right type for where the window is.

Cracked and broken glass

A cracked pane gets replaced the same way, with a new sealed unit sized to the frame. A broken window gets boarded or taped up if needed and replaced when the glass arrives. Single-pane glass in older homes can often be cut and set on the spot.
