Fascia, Soffit and Exterior Wood Repair in Phoenix
The board along the roof edge, the patio cover, the trim around the garage door. Rotted sections cut out and replaced before the sun takes the rest.

Exposed wood fails faster in Phoenix sun than most people expect. The fascia along the roof edge takes direct sun all day and water off the roof in storms. Patio cover boards, the trim around garage doors and windows, and wood posts fail the same way. Paint fails first, then the bare wood dries, cracks, lets water in, and rots from the inside. Catching it early is far cheaper than replacing a whole run.
Fascia
The fascia is the board along the edge of the roof, behind the gutter if there is one. Soft spots, peeling paint that keeps coming back, dark stains and a board that sags are the signs. Birds and woodpeckers go after soft fascia too, and the holes they leave let in more water.
A rotted section gets cut out back to sound wood and replaced with new wood, primed on all sides before it goes up so water can't get into the back or the ends. Then it's caulked and painted to match. A long run with rot in several spots gets replaced as a whole board, which looks better and lasts longer than several patches.
If water from the roof is causing the rot, usually a missing drip edge or a low spot where water pools, that gets fixed too, or the new board rots the same way. We can help with the roof repair itself too.
Soffit
The soffit is the flat panel under the roof overhang. It takes less sun than fascia but holds water from a roof leak, and it's where pests get in once it's soft. Damaged soffit panels get replaced, and the vents in them get replaced if they're clogged or broken.
Trim around garage doors, windows and posts
The wood trim around a garage door takes water every time it rains and bumps from the car. The bottom few inches rot first. Window trim on older homes, the trim around exterior doors, and wood porch posts go the same way. Rotted sections get cut out and replaced, primed on all sides, caulked and painted. Posts that have rotted at the base get a new base or a replacement post.
Keeping it from happening again
New exterior wood lasts when it's primed on every side, caulked at every joint, and painted with two coats. The paint is the protection. Bare wood in Phoenix sun starts to fail in months. Fascia and trim that's sound but peeling just needs repainting.

Questions
- Can you replace fascia without removing the gutter?
- Usually the gutter comes off that section and goes back on. On a short section it can sometimes be worked around. The quote will say.
- Why does my fascia keep rotting in the same spot?
- Water is getting to it from the roof, usually a missing drip edge, a low spot, or a gutter that overflows there. The board gets replaced and the water problem gets fixed, or it rots again.
- Do you replace the whole board or just the bad part?
- Either. A short rotted section gets cut out and spliced. A board with rot in several places gets replaced whole, because it looks better and lasts longer.
