Not every Phoenix house is stucco. Stone veneer on columns and accent walls, brick on older homes and planters, and siding on some newer and some 1970s houses all need their own repairs. Most are small: a few stones reset, a section of mortar repointed, a panel replaced.
Stone veneer
Manufactured stone on a column or a wall is glued to the wall with mortar, and pieces let go when water gets behind them. Fallen stones get cleaned and reset. Missing ones get matched from the same product line, which is usually still made. The cap on top of a column is where water gets in, and it gets resealed.
Brick
Mortar between bricks crumbles with age and water. Repointing means grinding out the failed mortar and packing in new, matched in color. Cracked or spalled bricks get replaced. A stair-step crack in a brick wall is movement and gets looked at before repointing.
Siding
Fiber cement, wood and vinyl siding all fail in sun: warping, cracking, paint failure, and rot on wood at the bottom. Damaged panels or boards get replaced and painted to match. The caulk at the joints and around windows gets redone.
