Paint Touch-Ups in Phoenix: Patches, Scuffs and Marks
The patch that still shows, the scuffs down the hallway, the nail holes from the last tenant. Blended in, or the wall painted corner to corner.

A touch-up sounds like the easiest painting job, and it's the one that goes wrong most often. The right color from the right can still shows as a patch, because the paint on the wall has changed and the paint in the can hasn't. We know when a spot touch-up will blend and when the honest fix is painting the wall corner to corner, and we tell you before we start.
Why touch-ups show
Paint on a wall fades in the light and picks up years of fine dirt. Paint in the can doesn't. Sheen matters as much as color: a touch-up done with a brush can look shinier or duller than paint that was rolled, and the difference shows when light hits the wall at an angle. A patch painted without primer soaks up paint differently than the wall around it and dries as a dull spot.
So three things decide whether a touch-up blends: the color, the sheen, and whether the patch was primed. We get all three right, and when that still won't blend, we say so.
Spot touch-up or whole wall
A spot touch-up works on a wall that's flat or matte, painted in the last couple of years, with the original paint on hand. It works less well on eggshell and satin, on walls that get direct sun, and on walls painted from a can that's been sitting in the garage for a decade.
When a spot won't blend, the clean answer is to paint the whole wall. A color change at a corner is invisible. A change in the middle of a wall is not. Painting one wall is often not much more than a careful touch-up, and the result is a wall that looks like one wall. The quote says plainly which one it covers.
Patches
Drywall and stucco patches get primed before paint. Then the paint goes on in the same way the wall was done, rolled if it was rolled, so the texture of the paint matches. On a textured wall, the texture has to be matched first.
Scuffs, marks and nail holes
Hallways, stairwells and kids' rooms collect scuffs, crayon, furniture rubs and nail holes. Most of those wipe or wash off first, and what's left gets filled, sanded and touched up. A hallway with scuffs down both sides is usually a full-wall job, because the touch-ups end up everywhere and the wall ends up patchy. Rental turnovers are the same: fill the holes, paint the walls that need it corner to corner, touch up the rest.
Matching the color
If you have the paint brand, color name and sheen, that's the best starting point. If not, a small chip can be cut from a hidden spot, behind a switch plate or inside a closet, and color-matched at the paint store. Old paint has shifted from its original color, so the match is made to what's on the wall now, not to the original formula.
How it starts
Send a photo of the spot and one of the wall from a few feet back, plus a photo of the paint can lid if you have it. We send back a fixed price, you say go, and Levi shows up to do it. The quote says whether it's a spot touch-up or the full wall.
Questions
- Can you touch up one spot so it doesn't show?
- Sometimes. On a flat or matte wall painted recently with the original paint, yes. On an older wall, a sunny wall or a satin finish, a spot usually shows, and painting that wall corner to corner is the fix.
- I have the original paint. Will it match?
- It'll be close, but the wall has faded and the can hasn't. The match is to what's on the wall now, which is why we test a small area first.
- Do you paint the whole room if one wall is patched?
- No. Painting the patched wall corner to corner is usually enough. The color change at the corner doesn't show.
