A new appliance is only half the job. The dishwasher needs water, power and a drain. The fridge needs a water line that reaches. The washer needs valves that shut off and hoses that won't burst. A range hood or microwave needs a solid mount and a duct that goes somewhere. We hook them up, mount them, and fix the ones that leak.

Dishwashers

A dishwasher connects three ways: a hot water line from under the sink, a drain hose that runs up to the sink drain or the disposal, and power from an outlet or a hardwired box. When a new one goes in, all three get connected, the dishwasher gets leveled and anchored to the counter, and it runs through a cycle while we watch for leaks.

Two details matter in Phoenix homes. The drain hose has to loop up high under the counter, or run through an air gap on the sink deck, so dirty water can't flow back into the dishwasher. Many Valley cities require the air gap. And if the dishwasher drains through the garbage disposal, the knockout plug inside the disposal's inlet has to be removed first. A dishwasher that fills and then floods the counter usually means that plug is still in.

A dishwasher that leaks at the front has a door gasket problem. One that leaks underneath has a loose supply line, a cracked drain hose, or a pump seal. We fix the connections.

Refrigerator water lines

A fridge with ice and water needs a small supply line. In older homes it's often a thin copper line run from a saddle valve, a clamp-on valve that pierces a pipe. Those valves clog with scale and leak. We replace them with a proper shutoff valve and run a braided line to the fridge, with enough slack to pull the fridge out for cleaning.

If there's no water line near the fridge, one can usually be run from the kitchen sink through the cabinets. Running one through a wall or under the slab is bigger work, and the quote says so.

A slow leak behind a fridge goes unnoticed for months because the fridge hides it. Warped flooring in front of the fridge, or a soft spot in the cabinet beside it, are usually the first signs.

Washers

The hot and cold valves behind a washer are the most important shutoffs in the house, because a burst washer hose dumps water at full pressure until someone turns them off. Old valves seize, and rubber hoses swell and split with age. We replace the valves with ones that turn, swap the hoses for braided steel, and check the drain standpipe.

A washer that leaves water on the floor is usually a hose, a loose connection, or a standpipe that overflows because it's partly clogged with lint.

Range hoods and over-the-range microwaves

A range hood that's loud, dim or dead usually gets replaced, not repaired. The fan motor is most of the cost of the hood. A new one goes on the same duct in an hour or two. If the old hood blows into the cabinet instead of outside, running a duct out through the wall or the roof is a bigger job, and we can help with that too.

An over-the-range microwave hangs on a plate screwed to the wall and bolts up through the cabinet above it. When the plate was put in the wrong spot or the bolts have worked loose, the microwave sags or pulls away from the wall. We mount new ones, remount loose ones, and vent them outside where there's a duct to do it.

Other appliances

A wine fridge set into a cabinet opening. A chest freezer in the garage that needs its outlet checked. Old appliances hauled away after the new one goes in. Ask.

Water heaters and gas lines

We can also help with water heater replacement, gas line work and anything that ties into the main water or gas supply.

How it starts

Send a photo of the space under the sink and of where the appliance goes. For a fridge line, show where the nearest water is. You'll have a fixed price before anyone shows up. Levi does the work himself.

Questions

Do I need an air gap for my dishwasher?
Many Valley cities require one, and it's the safer setup either way. If your sink has a spare hole, the air gap sits there. If not, a high loop in the drain hose under the counter is the alternative where the city allows it.
Can you move my dishwasher to the other side of the sink?
Usually, if the cabinet space is there. The water and drain lines get extended under the sink and the power outlet gets moved or extended. If the new spot needs a new circuit, we can help with that too.
Do you install the appliance itself?
We install dishwashers, range hoods and over-the-range microwaves. For a fridge or washer, the delivery service usually sets it in place, and we connect the water and drain.
Can you fix a dishwasher outlet or cord that's not working?
Check for a tripped GFCI or breaker first, since one GFCI can protect outlets in other spots. If that's not it, we trace the dead outlet and fix the outlet or the loose connection behind it.
Why is my fridge water dispenser slow?
Often the filter is overdue, and water slowing to a trickle is the sign. If the fridge runs off an under-sink filter, we change it, and an old saddle valve clogged with scale gets replaced with a proper shutoff valve.
